Description

Overview

The BWD5-40 is a variable speed booster pump with the drive built in. A pressure transducer watches the line and the pump changes speed to hold constant pressure, so the shower stays steady when the garden tap opens.

Power is 1.1 kW on a 230 V single-phase supply (the drive accepts 200 V ± 20%), with 85 m maximum head and 45 m at the rated 5 m³/h. Maximum flow is 9.5 m³/h and top speed is 5000 rpm. It arrives pre-wired with a 3-point plug, has a 3-second restart delay and an auto-rotation timer that turns the pump over to keep the bearings free. The manufacturer quotes savings of up to 80% in energy against a traditional fixed-speed set-up. Compare it with the 1.1 kW i-Prez booster system or the smart Wi-Fi RUC-1100.

Where it works

It suits clean water duties: houses, guest lodges and offices, drinking water supply and non-potable pipework, and irrigation lines, with water from 2 to 80 °C. Fit it in a ventilated, undercover spot away from sun, rain and irrigation spray. Use rigid suction and discharge pipe rated to 6 bar, keep the suction airtight, and earth the pump. Questions about this product

Can it pump dirty borehole water?

No. It is designed for clean water only. Muddy water or water with suspended solids shortens the life of the unit, so filter or settle borehole water first.

Can I use an extension cable?

Avoid it where you can and do not strain the cable. If you must extend, use an approved extending plug adapter, and keep the pump earthed and under cover.

Do you deliver to Gqeberha and East London?

Yes. We run our own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days. At about 16 kg it falls in the up to 30 kg band at R550, and orders of R20,000 or more ship free.
