Overview

The JSWM75 is a 0.75 kW cast iron jet pump that primes itself and lifts water from a tank or shallow well below the pump, typically up to about 8 m of suction. A normal centrifugal pump cannot do that. It arrives pre-assembled with an automatic flow controller, wiring and a moulded 3-point plug.

Connect the pipes, plug it in and it runs by itself. The pump starts when you open a tap and stops when the flow stops. Maximum head is 46 m, roughly 4.6 bar, and flow reaches 70 L/min at low pressure. At R 3,200 (VAT incl.) it is a practical booster for a house fed from a ground tank or a well.

Where it works

This is a household and small-holding pump. Think of a Limpopo homestead drawing from a shallow well, a Gauteng house fed from a ground-level JoJo tank, or a farm cottage that needs steady pressure at the shower. Count the taps and showers that run at the same time and how high the water must go, because a double-storey house needs more head than a single storey. Can a jet pump lift water from a tank below the pump?

Yes. The JSWM75 is self-priming and draws from a tank or shallow well lower than the pump, typically up to about 8 m of suction. Ordinary centrifugal pumps cannot do this. Keep the suction pipe short, airtight and rising gently to the pump so it primes quickly.

Will it pressurise a double-storey house?

At 20 L/min the pump delivers 35 m of head, about 3.5 bar, and 25 m at 40 L/min. That suits a double-storey home with a few taps open. If several showers run at once, the head drops towards 9 m at 60 L/min, so size up for big households.
