Description
Overview
This 20 inch pleated cartridge is a 5 micron sediment filter for standard Big Blue housings. It removes fine sand, rust, mud, silt and suspended particles to protect your plumbing and improve water clarity.
The pleated design gives a larger filtering surface while keeping water flow strong, and the fine 5 micron rating catches smaller particles than coarser cartridges. Taking out sediment also extends the life of downstream carbon filters and UV units. Replace it about every six months, or sooner if flow drops or your water carries a lot of sediment.
Key features
- 20 inch Big Blue size, pleated design
- 5 micron sediment filtration
- Removes sand, rust, mud, silt and suspended particles
- Improves water clarity
- Protects plumbing, appliances and pumps
- Maintains strong water flow
Where it works
Borehole systems in Limpopo and the Free State, rainwater tanks in KZN and municipal supply in Gauteng all benefit from a first-stage sediment cartridge. It also protects irrigation fittings and small pumps. Fit it as pre-filtration before carbon filters and UV units, and watch flow: a clear drop means it is time to change it. Turn off the water and release the pressure before opening the housing, then check that the O-ring sits flat when you close it. Keep a spare on the shelf, because a blocked cartridge starves the taps and pumps behind it.

Questions about this product
What is the difference between this and the 10 inch pleated cartridge?
This is 20 inch long and rated 5 micron, for 20 inch Big Blue housings. The 10 inch pleated cartridge is for 10 inch housings and is rated 20 micron. Choose by housing size and how fine you want the filtering.
Will it make my water safe to drink?
It improves clarity by removing sediment, but it does not disinfect or remove chlorine. Add a carbon cartridge for taste and odour and a UV stage for disinfection, especially for borehole or rainwater.
When should I change it?
About every six months, depending on water quality. Change it sooner if flow drops noticeably or the water gets cloudy. Borehole water after heavy rain can clog it faster.
Do you deliver to Klerksdorp?
Yes. Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days. A cartridge ships well under 30 kg, so delivery falls in our R550 band, and it is free on orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.).
