20 Inch Refillable Cartridge Shell for Siliphos Scale and Corrosion Control

Description

Overview

This is a 20 inch refillable cartridge shell, code BBRFC20, that holds Siliphos ball type crystals so you can add scale and corrosion control to a filter housing. Siliphos is a polyphosphate and silicate media: as water flows through, small amounts dissolve into it. This helps stop hard scale forming and helps protect metal surfaces against corrosion, so pipes, geysers and appliances last longer and brown water is reduced. The shell is reusable: when the crystals run low you refill it, rather than buying a whole new cartridge. Browse more water filters.

Key features

• 20 inch refillable and reusable shell
• Built for Siliphos ball type crystals
• Helps control scale formation and corrosion
• Internal screens keep the media in the cartridge while water flows through
• Easy to open and refill
• Needs 2 bags of Siliphos crystals to fill the unit, bought separately

Where it works

Hard water is a problem across much of South Africa, from borehole supplies in Limpopo and the Northern Cape to municipal water in Gauteng. Scale builds up inside geysers and pipes and cuts flow and efficiency, while corrosion in older steel and copper plumbing causes brown water. Fit the loaded shell in a 20 inch housing upstream of the geyser and the rest of the plumbing, after a sediment filter such as our Big Blue 20 inch single filter housing setup or the 20 inch triple filter set.

Siliphos slowly dissolves in use, so check the media level at each service. Top up or refill when it runs low. Siliphos controls new scale and does not soften water, and the shell holds the crystals but does not filter sediment, so keep a sediment stage ahead of it.
