55 W Replacement UV-C Lamp for Submersible Tank Light

Description

Overview

This is the replacement 55 W UV-C lamp for submersible tank UV lights. It restores germicidal output in a unit whose lamp has aged or broken, so the water in your tank keeps getting treated.

A submersible light hangs inside the storage tank, so the water gets far more contact time than a single pass through an in-line unit. That dwell time is what lets UV-C deactivate bacteria, viruses and other waterborne pathogens. The lamp is the part that wears, and it should be swapped on schedule even if it still glows, because visible light is not a measure of UV output.

Where it works

Water in a rainwater tank, a borehole tank or a municipal backup tank can go sour or carry pathogens if it sits for weeks. A working UV-C lamp in the tank protects drinking water at homesteads in Limpopo, lodges in Mpumalanga and school water points. For clear results, filter the water down to about 0.2 micron first so particles cannot shield organisms from the light. Unplug the unit for five minutes if power has been interrupted before restarting it.
