Overview

The JLM75 is a self-priming cast-iron jet pump of 0.75 kW (1 HP) supplied pre-assembled with an automatic flow controller. It can lift water from a tank or shallow well below the pump, typically up to about 8 m of suction, and boost it to the house at a maximum head of 52 m. Plug it in and it starts when you open a tap and stops when the flow stops. A little stronger than the stainless steel GJSm800, it is a durable, serviceable choice for a family home.

The curve: 47 m head at 10 L/min, 39 m at 30 L/min, 33 m at 40 L/min, 20 m at 50 L/min and 10 m at 55 L/min, which is the working maximum (3.3 m³/h). It trades flow for pressure, so it is a pressure pump for taps, showers and gardens.

Where it works

Use it to boost water pressure from a storage tank in a house, to draw from a shallow well on a farm in the Eastern Cape, or to feed a garden irrigation line. The jet design lifts from below the pump, which a normal centrifugal pump cannot do. Count the taps and showers that run together and pick a pump whose head at that flow is comfortably above your needs. Each 10 m of head is about 1 bar.
