Overview

This 0.75 kW VSD booster pump replaces a noisy on/off pressure pump with one that adjusts motor speed to the demand, giving a steady 83.3 L/min and up to 35 m head from a normal 230 V supply.

A pressure transducer reads the line pressure and the drive speeds up or slows down to hold it, even with several taps open. A 3-second restart delay and a timed auto-rotation cycle protect the motor and bearings. It can empty wells and feed an irrigation system, within its head limit. Where it works

The pump suits houses and guest lodges in Gauteng and KZN that struggle with surging pressure, and farm sheds in Limpopo with a header tank. It must be installed under a ventilated cover, protected from rain and spray. For more flow, step up to 1.5 kW VSD booster pump, or buy the set with a tank, such as 5000 L tank with a 0.75 kW VSD booster pump.

Installation notes: site the unit under a ventilated cover that keeps off rain and spray, close to the tank and with room around it for air to circulate. At 83.3 L/min and 35 m of head, use pipework rated for the pressure you plan to set, and fit a strainer on the inlet if the source carries grit. Size the cable and breaker for the motor, and have a qualified electrician do the wiring.

Questions about this product

Is this pump quieter than a normal pressure pump?

Generally yes, because the motor does not slam on at full speed every time a tap opens. The variable-speed drive ramps the motor up and down, so you get smoother pressure and lower noise. Real noise depends on how and where you mount it.

Can it sit outside?

Only under a ventilated cover that keeps off rain and water spray. The drive electronics need air to cool but must stay dry. A small pump shed next to the tank is the usual solution. Mount it off the ground on a bracket or plinth, so splashes and ground water cannot reach the electronics.

What liquids can it pump?

Clean water up to 40 °C, without abrasive particles. It is not for chemicals, dirty water or hot water. Use a filter on the inlet if your source carries sand. It also does not suit seawater, fuel or liquids that attack aluminium and Noryl, so ask us if you are unsure about your fluid.
