Overview

This 1.5 kW VSD booster pump is the high-output model of the range, moving 133.3 L/min and lifting to 55 m, enough for a large house, a lodge or a packing shed with several outlets running together.

It uses the same protections as the 0.75 kW model, dry-run, over-current, voltage, overload and abnormal-pressure, with a pressure transducer holding the line pressure steady. Because the motor is bigger, the cable and breaker should be sized for it. Compare the smaller pumps in water pumps and booster pumps if your demand is lower.

Where it works

Use it for guest lodges on the KZN coast, farm houses in the Free State, and packing sheds that wash product under pressure. It also suits mine camp ablutions in Mpumalanga. Mount it under a ventilated cover, out of rain. A smaller option is 0.75 kW VSD booster pump, and a tank set with this pump is 5000 L tank with a 1.5 kW VSD booster pump.

Installation notes: mount the pump on a firm, level base close to the water source and keep the suction line short, airtight and rising gently towards the pump so air cannot collect. Fit a foot valve wherever the pump lifts water, and fill the pump body before the first start. Rated flow is 133.3 L/min, so choose pipe sizes that do not choke it and keep the run as straight as you can. Size the cable and breaker for the motor, and let a qualified electrician make the connection.

Questions about this product

Will it handle a two-storey house?

Yes. At up to 55 m of head it easily lifts to a first-floor shower and keeps pressure steady when other taps open. A smaller 0.75 kW pump works for modest demand, but this one has headroom. For very long pipe runs or several floors of fixtures open at once, tell us the pipe length and fittings so we can confirm the head.

Is it single-phase?

Yes, it runs on a 230 V, 50 Hz single-phase supply. Size the cable and breaker for a 1.5 kW motor, and have a qualified electrician do the wiring. If your supply is weak or you run on a generator, ask us before you buy so the voltage range and starting load are checked.

Does it protect itself if the tank runs dry?

Yes, it has dry-run protection, plus over-current, over/under-voltage, overload and abnormal-pressure protection. You should still fix the cause quickly, because repeated dry-run stops are hard on any pump. Dry-run protection is a safety net, not a way of working, so check the float, the suction line and any closed valves first.
