Overview

This 1.1 kW monoblock pump kit is the biggest of the monoblock kits, giving 125 L/min (6 m³/h) and up to 37 m head, with the flow switch and cable included.

It handles larger houses, dairy wash-down or several sprinklers at once. The switch starts the pump when pressure falls and shuts it off when flow ends. The 1.1 kW motor draws more current, so check cable and breaker. Other sizes are in water pumps and booster pumps.

Where it works

It fits dairy wash-down in the Eastern Cape, citrus farm pump sheds in Limpopo, and school and clinic water systems where a header tank feeds the building. For lower demand take 0.75 kW monoblock pump kit; to include a tank, see 5000 L tank with a 1.1 kW monoblock pump.

Installation notes: mount the pump on a firm, level base close to the water source and keep the suction line short, airtight and rising gently towards the pump so air cannot collect. Fit a foot valve wherever the pump lifts water, and fill the pump body before the first start. Rated flow is 125 L/min (6 m³/h), so choose pipe sizes that do not choke it and keep the run as straight as you can. Size the cable and breaker for the motor, and let a qualified electrician make the connection.

Questions about this product

What exactly is the flow switch for?

It starts the pump when pressure drops as you open a tap and stops it again when flow ceases. It spares you from manual switching and from running the pump dry for long. Fit it on the discharge pipe, upstream of your taps, and keep the cable joint dry.

Will a normal home plug supply handle 1.1 kW?

Check your circuit rating. A 1.1 kW single-phase pump draws noticeably more than the smaller models and needs the right cable and breaker. Have an electrician confirm. On a long cable run, step up the cable size so voltage drop does not cause hard starts.

Does the kit include the pipes?

No. The kit has the pump, the flow switch and the lead-out cable. Pipework, unions and a foot valve are separate, and we can quote them if you tell us your layout. A foot valve and a strainer are worth adding if the pump lifts from a dam or sump.
