Description
Overview
This 5000 L water tank with 0.75 kW peripheral pump trades flow for pressure: the pump gives only 60 L/min, but it pushes that water up to 60 m head, which is plenty for a garden sprinkler line, a pressure washer feed or a multi-storey house.
A peripheral impeller is a better match than a centrifugal when you want pressure on a modest flow. The flow switch starts the pump below 1.5 bar and stops it when water stops moving. Compare it against the monoblock sets in tank and pump combo kits if you need more litres per minute rather than more pressure.
Key features
- Peripheral brass impeller for high head at low flow
- Flow switch with IP65 protection, start pressure 1.5 bar, up to 10 bar maximum
- Thermal overload protector in the winding, cast-iron body
- Suction lift up to 6 m with a foot valve, depending on altitude
- Run the pump at least once a week so the impeller does not seize
Where it works
Peripheral pumps do well on small irrigation blocks, vegetable tunnels and garden systems in the Western Cape vineyards and Limpopo smallholdings where water is stored and then pushed through drip or micro-sprinkler lines. They also suit house boosting where the roof tank is low. For higher flow from the same 5000 L tank, see 5000 L tank with a 0.75 kW monoblock pump, or buy only the pump with 0.75 kW peripheral pump kit.
What’s in the box
- 5000 L vertical LLDPE tank with screw-on lid
- 0.75 kW 230 V peripheral pump with flow-control switch
- Fittings and pipework not included

Questions about this product
Is a peripheral pump better than a monoblock for a garden?
It is better when you want pressure. This 0.75 kW peripheral pump gives 60 L/min at up to 60 m head, while the monoblock gives more water at lower pressure. For sprinklers, drip lines and a pressure washer, peripheral usually wins. For filling troughs fast, take the monoblock.
What does the controller do?
It is an automatic flow switch. It starts the pump when pressure falls below about 1.5 bar at a tap and shuts it down when flow stops. It is rated IP65 and handles up to 10 bar. Mount it where you can see it and keep it dry.
Why must the pump run once a week?
Peripheral impellers can stick if left standing. Running the pump for a short time every week keeps the impeller free. If the set is going to stand empty for months, flush it with clean water and drain the pump before storing.
What is the delivery cost to the Free State?
The set ships at 87.8 kg, so it sits in the 60 to 100 kg band at R1,450, wherever in the nine provinces you are. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) ship free. Delivery usually takes 1 to 3 days from Polokwane.
