Overview

The OGM-25 preset diesel flowmeter 12V is a 1″ aluminium oval-gear meter with a batch controller that runs from a vehicle battery. Enter the litres, start the pump, and it signals or cuts the pump at the target. It is the more affordable aluminium version of our stainless preset meter, meant for diesel and oils rather than AdBlue.

It forms part of our fuel dispensing equipment range. Pair it with the OGM-25 220V preset flowmeter or the OGM-40 mechanical flowmeter for a complete setup.

Where it works

Diesel bowsers servicing harvesters in the Free State use a preset diesel flowmeter 12V so each machine gets a fixed fill. Mobile refuellers on Rustenburg platinum mines and Mpumalanga coal sites fit it to service bakkies. Farmers running feed mill generators like it for predictable fills.

Fitting tip: put a strainer, and on bulk lines an air eliminator, in front of the meter so that debris and air do not upset the count. Have the controller output wired to the pump relay or a solenoid valve so it can actually stop the flow, then run a test batch into a calibrated measure and adjust the factor before the first real fill.

Oval-gear meters measure by displacement: every turn of the gears passes a fixed volume, so the reading holds steady whether the fluid is thin diesel or heavier oil, and the flow pattern in the pipe matters far less than it does with a turbine meter.

Questions about this product

Can I use it on AdBlue?

No. AdBlue corrodes aluminium, and this preset meter has an aluminium body. For AdBlue choose the stainless steel OGM-25 preset meter, which has the same controller and flow range. This aluminium model is meant for diesel, biodiesel, paraffin and light oils.

Will it stop my pump on its own?

It will if you wire the controller output to a relay that switches the pump, or to a solenoid valve in the line. Most auto electricians can do this in an hour. Without that wiring the meter still counts down and signals, and you switch the pump off yourself.

Can I run it off my bakkie?

Yes, that is what the 12V version is for. Take a fused feed from the battery, keep the cable run short, and earth it properly. If you need it on mains power in a fuel store, the 220V version has the same meter and preset functions.
