Overview

The OGM-25 preset diesel flowmeter 220V is a 1″ aluminium oval-gear meter with a batch controller powered from mains. Enter the litres you want issued, and it counts down and signals or shuts off the pump at the set amount. It is meant for fixed diesel points in a fuel store, workshop or depot where a plug point is close by.

It forms part of our fuel dispensing equipment range. Pair it with the OGM-25 12V preset flowmeter or the OGM-40 electronic flowmeter for a complete setup.

Where it works

Municipal depots in Limpopo and Gauteng fit a preset diesel flowmeter 220V on their fuel store tank so each vehicle draws a set allocation. Farms with a fixed diesel tank next to the workshop use it for repeat fills of tractors and generators, and transport depots use it for top-ups.

Fitting tip: put a strainer, and on bulk lines an air eliminator, in front of the meter so that debris and air do not upset the count. Have the controller output wired to the pump relay or a solenoid valve so it can actually stop the flow, then run a test batch into a calibrated measure and adjust the factor before the first real fill.

Oval-gear meters measure by displacement: every turn of the gears passes a fixed volume, so the reading holds steady whether the fluid is thin diesel or heavier oil, and the flow pattern in the pipe matters far less than it does with a turbine meter.

Questions about this product

What happens during load-shedding?

The controller needs 220V, so it stops when the power goes off. Most installs run the pump on the same supply, so the fill stops too. Fit the meter on a UPS or inverter circuit, or wire in a generator change-over, if your fuel point must work through outages.

Can it control the pump directly?

It gives an output at the preset volume that can drop a pump contactor or close a solenoid valve. Get an electrician to wire it into the pump starter circuit. Once set up, the attendant only keys in the litres and presses start.

Should I pick 12V or 220V?

Pick 220V for a fixed tank with mains nearby, such as a fuel store or workshop. Pick the 12V version for bowsers, trailers and bakkies. The meter body, flow range and accuracy are the same, so the only question is how you will power it.
