Description
Overview
The NC255 is a new IBC tank straight from the factory, holding 1000 litres in a chemical-grade HDPE bottle with a steel cage, pallet base, top lid and bottom valve. This version is not UN approved, which makes it the sensible pick for liquids that stay on your property rather than travel on public roads as dangerous goods.
Buy new when you cannot risk cross-contamination from earlier contents, or when the tank must last many years of daily handling. If you will transport hazardous chemicals, choose the UN-approved NC255. For flammable or static-sensitive liquids, the anti-static NCSX340 IBC is the right tank.
Key features
- Brand-new chemical-grade HDPE bottle, 1000 L
- No previous contents, so no residue risk
- Steel cage and pallet base with four-way forklift entry
- Top filling lid and bottom drain valve
- Not UN rated, priced for static storage
Where it works
Chemical blenders in Gauteng, water treatment works run by municipalities, and pack houses in the Western Cape buy a new IBC tank when the product must stay pure. Platinum mines around Rustenburg use them for reagents and process water in workshops. Contractors who hire tanks out also prefer new stock, since a clean history keeps clients happy and the bottle lasts longer between replacements. See all sizes and grades in our IBC tanks range.

Questions about this product
Do I need a UN-approved IBC?
Only if you transport hazardous substances classed as dangerous goods on public roads. For storing water, fertiliser or chemicals that stay on your farm, plant or workshop, a non-UN tank like this NC255 does the job and costs less. If you are unsure how your product is classed, check its safety data sheet.
Why pay more for a new IBC than an as-new one?
A new bottle has never held anything, so there is no doubt about residues or wear. It also gives you the full service life of the HDPE. As-new tanks are cheaper and fine for most farm work, but processors and blenders who need guaranteed purity usually buy new.
Can I stack these IBCs?
Empty IBCs stack easily thanks to the steel cage. Stacking full tanks depends on the cage rating and the liquid density, and no stacking rating has been published for this unit. Keep full tanks on the ground unless we confirm a rating for your setup.
