Overview

This float-stop for bulk flowmeter air eliminators is the float and valve assembly that sits inside the strainer housing on M40, M50, M80 and M100 meters. When air collects at the top of the housing, the float drops and opens the vent to let it out. When fuel rises again, the float lifts and closes the vent so product does not escape.

Note that it controls venting, not the delivery itself. It does not stop the flow at a preset volume. A punctured float, a sticking pivot or a worn seat lets air through to the meter or lets fuel weep from the vent, and both show up as wrong readings or a mess at the top of the housing. Replacing the float-stop is a quick, low-cost fix. Part code S/A-FLOATER.

What does the float-stop do?

It manages the vent on the air eliminator. When air gathers in the strainer housing, the float drops and opens the vent so the air escapes before the meter. When the housing fills with fuel, the float rises and seals the vent. It does not stop deliveries at a set volume; that needs a preset system.

How do I know it needs replacing?

Common signs are fuel weeping from the air eliminator vent, a meter that over-reads at the start or end of a delivery, or a float that rattles because it has filled with fuel. Open the housing and check the float for punctures and the seat for wear or dirt.
