Description

Overview

The FM-TEM is a compact 1″ turbine flowmeter with an aluminium body. Diesel flowing through spins a small rotor, and the meter counts the turns as litres between 10 and 100 L/min. It is one of the lowest-cost ways to add measurement to a transfer pump, bowser or IBC line, and it is rated to 3.5 bar.

Turbine meters suit thin, clean fuels such as diesel and paraffin, where they read well at moderate flow. They are less suited to thick oils, which slow the rotor; for those, choose an oval gear meter. Fit a filter upstream, as grit wears the rotor bearings.

Where it works

This turbine flowmeter suits farm diesel tanks in Limpopo and the Free State, small contractor bowsers and workshop transfer lines where a budget meter is all that is needed. Questions about this product

Is a turbine meter accurate enough for diesel?

For everyday farm and site use, yes. Turbine meters read diesel well at steady, moderate flow, typically within about ±1% after on-site calibration. Accuracy drops at very low flow and with thick oils. If you need records for billing customers, consider an oval gear meter instead.

Can I use it on engine oil?

It is not the best choice. Thick oils slow the turbine and cause under-reading. For engine and gear oils, use an oval gear meter such as our OGM-15M or FM150. Keep the FM-TEM for diesel, paraffin and other thin, clean fuels.

Will it pump petrol?

The meter does not pump, and it is not rated for petrol. Use it on diesel, paraffin and light oils only. Petrol needs explosion-proof pumps, meters and nozzles. Ask us for advice if you need to dispense petrol on site.
