Overview

The FM-600 is a pulser flowmeter: a 1″ oval gear meter with its own LCD and an electronic pulse output of 33.5 pulses per litre. It measures diesel, oils and similar fluids between 10 and 100 L/min, shows litres on the display, and at the same time sends a pulse signal to a fuel management system, PLC or batch controller.

The pulse output is the reason to buy it. With a signal wired to your system, each fill can be logged against a vehicle tag or driver PIN, or a controller can stop the pump at a preset volume. The oval gear element handles a range of viscosities, and the enclosure has IP55 protection.

Where it works

A pulser flowmeter is the standard building block for fleet fuel control at transport depots in Gauteng and KZN, mine diesel bays that tag every machine, and municipal workshops that must account for each litre. What can I connect the pulse output to?

Any fuel management system, PLC, batch controller or data logger that accepts a pulse input. Set the input to 33.5 pulses per litre. Many customers use it to log fills by vehicle or driver, or to switch a pump off at a preset volume. Ask us if you need help matching it to your controller.

Will it measure engine oil?

Yes. Oval gear meters handle thicker fluids better than turbine meters, so it suits engine oils as well as diesel and paraffin. Very thick gear oils may reduce the maximum flow rate. It is not for petrol, which needs explosion-proof equipment throughout the installation.
