Overview

This 9000 L septic tank is a large underground sewage tank rated for 20 to 35 people, built for lodges, schools, farm compounds and construction camps without a municipal sewer. It is rotationally moulded from LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene), weighs 350 kg and stands 2220 mm high on a 2440 mm diameter.

The thick wall resists soil pressure and keeps roots and rodents out, and the 110 mm inlet and outlet take standard waste pipe. Bacteria break the waste down inside, so a regular dose of septic tank starter tablets keeps it healthy. See the rest of our septic tank range for smaller sizes.

Where it works

At this size the tank serves a school hostel in Mpumalanga, a bush lodge in Limpopo, a mine contractor camp or a farm labour compound. Plan the hole and the access road before the truck arrives, because a 350 kg tank needs lifting equipment or enough hands to place it.

Test the ground for groundwater or clay soil first and adjust the installation to suit, following the guide supplied. Do not place the tank where vehicles can drive over it. The tank holds sewage, not clean water. Use a 110 mm rubber seal wherever a pipe passes through the tank wall, and ask a qualified builder or plumber to install it. Starter tablets and French drains are bought separately.
