Overview

This honey sucker trailer carries a 1000 L horizontal tank and a 6.5 HP petrol engine driving a 3 inch trash pump, on a braked single-axle chassis. It empties septic tanks, conservancy tanks and site toilets at up to about 50,000 L/h and tows between jobs behind a bakkie.

Is this a vacuum tanker?

No. It uses a 3 inch centrifugal trash pump driven by the engine on the unit, not a vacuum pump. The trash pump pulls waste up the suction hose and pushes it into the tank, then empties the load through the layflat hose. It handles sludge and small solids well, and there is no vacuum system to service.

What do I need to tow it?

Full, the trailer weighs roughly 1,386 kg, since effluent is about a kilogram per litre. Check that your bakkie or tractor is rated to tow that with a braked trailer, and that your licence covers the combination. Ask us for the axle rating on this chassis. Register and license the trailer before it goes on a public road.

Where can I empty the tank?

Only at a point your municipality or the site owner has approved, usually a wastewater treatment works or a sewer manhole they have authorised. Dumping sewage in the veld or a river is illegal and a health risk. Ask your local municipality about disposal fees and permits before you start a pumping business.
