Overview

This 600 L septic tank is a rotationally moulded polyethylene tank for burying in the ground and holding human sewage waste from one small building. It has a 110 mm inlet, a 110 mm outlet and a 450 mm child safety lid, and it arrives with the fittings you need to connect it.

The body is LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) with extra wall thickness, so it copes with soil pressure and stops roots and rodents getting through. Inside, bacteria break the waste down in the natural biodegradation process. At 25 kg it is light enough for two people to carry to the trench. It is the smallest tank in our septic tank range, and larger households should step up to the larger septic tank.

Where it works

A 600 L tank suits light-duty sewage: a farm cottage in Limpopo, a guard house, a site office on a Gauteng building site, or a small lodge staff room where there is no municipal sewer. Size it to the number of users, and ask us if you are unsure.

Before you dig, test the ground for groundwater or clay soil, because both change how the tank must be installed. Never place it where vehicles can drive over it. It is for sewage only, so choose a purpose-made tank for underground water storage. A qualified builder or plumber should install it, and starter tablets and French drains are bought separately, for example these septic tank starter tablets.

Delivery and warranty

Kamano delivers with its own trucks from Polokwane to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, including Polokwane, Mbombela, Rustenburg, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Durban. This item ships at about 27 kg, so it falls in our up to 30 kg delivery band at R550. Add it to a bigger order and the fee is worked out on the total weight. Delivery is free on orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.). Tank warranty: 1 to 2 years, depending on the model. Placing the tank in its final position is the buyer’s responsibility, and the warranty excludes incorrect installation.
