Overview

A 0.75 kW motor is the classic size for a household borehole pump, and this 20Y controller is matched to it on a 220 V single-phase supply. It monitors the motor and trips the pump before damage occurs, whether the cause is a dry hole, a voltage fault or an overload. A digital display keeps the installer informed with live voltage and current readings.

The 20Y is our recommendation for most 220 V boreholes, especially those with a low yield that can run dry. The cheaper analogue control box starts the pump but offers no dry-run protection. If your pump is bigger, move up to the 1.1 kW 20Y controller, and for three-phase pumps use a unit built for 380 V.
