This is a 12V electric drum pump with a roughly 1 m telescopic tube that clamps to a 200 litre drum and transfers diesel, paraffin or light oils. It lets you empty a drum without tipping or lifting it. If you are looking for a 12v electric drum pump to run from a bakkie or tractor battery, this aluminium model is the lighter and cheaper of the two 12V options.

Where it works

Farms in the Free State and Limpopo buy diesel by the drum, and this pump moves it into a bakkie, tractor or generator tank in minutes. Mine stores and contractors use it for diesel, paraffin and light oils. Fuel in drums at remote sites in the Karoo and Northern Cape is exactly where a battery-powered pump saves a day of hand-pumping. Not for petrol.

Questions about this product

Will this fit a standard 200 litre drum?

Yes. The telescopic tube is about 1 m long and the pump clamps to a standard 200 litre drum. Extend the tube until it nearly touches the bottom and tighten the clamp. That lets you pump the drum almost empty without tilting it.

Can I connect it to a bakkie battery?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC at 300 W, so a vehicle battery with the engine running is fine. Use proper clamps and keep the battery away from spills. For longer jobs, run the engine to keep the battery topped up.

Can I use it for petrol?

No. It is meant for diesel, paraffin and light oils and is not rated for petrol. A standard DC motor can spark, and petrol vapour is a fire hazard. For petrol, choose an explosion-proof pump.

What will delivery to the Northern Cape cost?
