Overview

The DYB-60 220V is a rotary-vane pump that transfers diesel and paraffin at 60 litres a minute from a standard plug point. It is built with a carry handle, so it moves easily between drums, tanks and bowsers. If you want a dyb-60 diesel transfer pump with a bit more motor than the basic 370 W units, the 550 W drive here is the difference.

Where it works

Workshops and fuel stores on Limpopo farms use this size to decant from a 210 litre drum into tractors and bakkies. Transport yards in Gauteng and KZN put one on the wall beside a bulk tank. Contractors with a site generator can run it for plant refuelling. Keep it to diesel and paraffin; petrol needs an explosion-proof pump.

What is the difference between the DYB-60 and the DTP-60?

Both move 60 litres a minute through 1 inch ports on 220V. The DYB-60 has a 550 W rotary-vane motor with a carry handle, while the DTP-60 uses a 370 W sliding-vane drive. The larger motor on the DYB-60 copes better with longer hoses or thicker fuel.

Can I use it on a generator during load-shedding?

Yes. A generator of 1.5 kVA or more should start and run a 550 W motor, since induction motors draw extra current at start-up. Use an earthed lead and keep the generator well clear of fuel before you pump.

Will it pump petrol?

No. It is rated for diesel and paraffin only, and a standard AC motor is not safe around petrol vapour. If you need to transfer petrol, look at the EX series of explosion-proof pumps in our fuel transfer range.

How much is delivery to a Limpopo farm?
