Overview

The DYB-70 12V is a rotary-vane pump that moves diesel at 60 to 70 litres a minute off a vehicle battery. It comes with a switch and battery clamps, so you can connect it to a bakkie, tractor or generator battery and start pumping. It is a practical 12v diesel transfer pump for anyone who does not have mains power at the tank.

Where it works

Remote farms in Limpopo, the Karoo and Free State rely on 12V pumps because the diesel tank is often hundreds of metres from the nearest plug. Contractors use one on a service bakkie to fill graders and excavators in the field. Pump it from a drum into a tractor, or from a bowser into a combine during harvest. It is for diesel and paraffin only.

Questions about this product

Can I run this off a bakkie battery?

Yes. It is made for 12V DC and comes with battery clamps and a switch. Clamp to the battery with the engine running, because a 550 W motor drains a battery quickly. Use thick cable and clean terminals for the best flow and to avoid heat build-up.

How long will it take to fill a tractor tank?

At 60 to 70 litres a minute, a 300 litre tractor tank fills in roughly five minutes. Hose length, lift height and a blocked filter will slow it, so keep the suction hose short, straight and free of kinks for the best result.

Can it pump petrol?

No. It is for diesel and paraffin only. The motor is not explosion-proof, and petrol vapour is a fire risk. For petrol, choose one of our explosion-proof EX pumps from the fuel transfer category.

How much is delivery to a farm in the Karoo?

The pump ships at 8.2 kg, so delivery is R550 for orders up to 30 kg. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) are free. We deliver from Polokwane with our own trucks to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, including Karoo farms.
