Where it works

On the farm, a 220V diesel transfer pump earns its keep every season: filling tractors and bakkies from a bulk tank during planting in the Free State or harvest in Limpopo. Questions about this product

Can this pump handle petrol?

No. The DTP-60 is built for diesel and paraffin only and is not rated for petrol. Petrol vapour near a standard AC motor is a fire risk. If you need to move petrol, choose an explosion-proof pump from our fuel transfer range instead, such as the EX-60 220V.

How fast will it fill a 1000 litre tank?

At the rated 60 litres a minute, a 1000 litre tank takes roughly 17 minutes. Real flow drops with long hoses, a high lift or a partly blocked filter, so allow somewhat longer on site. Keep the suction hose short and the intake below 3 m to stay close to the rated figure.

Can I run it off a generator during load-shedding?

Yes. The motor is rated at 370 W, so a small petrol or diesel generator of 1 kVA or more will start and run it. Use a proper earthed lead and keep the generator well away from the fuel you are pumping. Pumps with AC motors may draw a higher current at start-up.
