Overview

This solar borehole pump kit lifts water from as deep as 180 m using only solar power, and it includes the pump and the matching DC controller. The 3HR1200-180 has a 1200 W, 72 V DC brushless motor, a 304 stainless steel body and casing, and a wear-resistant rubber stator. It suits off-grid and hybrid solar water pumping, and it fits boreholes, wells, rivers, dams and tanks with an internal diameter of 80 mm (3 inch) or more.

Where it works

Use it for deep boreholes on farms in Limpopo, the Northern Cape and the Free State, for livestock water, small-scale irrigation and rural households. Choose the pump by your water level, not the borehole depth: pick a model rated at least 25 to 30 percent above your actual water level, to cover pipe friction and a falling water table. The kit needs about 1800 W of solar panels, for example five 400 W panels. The water must be non-corrosive, below 40 degrees Celsius, pH 6.5 to 8.5, with sand under 1 percent.
