Description
Overview
This 15 m dip tape is a stainless steel gauging tape wound in an anodised light-metal frame, used to measure the depth of liquid in a storage tank by hand. You lower the weighted end into the tank, read the wetted mark on the metric scale, and work out the volume from your tank chart. It is the longest of our three dip tapes in the range.
Use it with the fuel gauging paste to find the wetted line more easily. The 10 m dip tape gives you a different length for another tank.
To take a reading, lower the tape plumb into the tank until the weight touches the bottom, hold it steady for a moment, then pull it up and read the wetted line against the metric scale. Wipe the tape afterwards and wind it back into the frame so it does not kink. Use your tank chart to convert the depth to litres. Gauging paste on the weight makes the wetted line easier to see, especially in diesel.

Questions about this product
What is a dip tape used for?
A dip tape measures the depth of liquid in a storage tank by hand. You lower the tape into the tank, read the wetted mark on the scale, then convert that depth to litres with your tank chart. It is a simple cross-check on fuel levels and deliveries.
Which dip tape length should I buy?
Choose a tape longer than the deepest tank you will measure. We list 5 m, 10 m and 15 m tapes. This one is 15 m, so it suits the deepest tanks and bulk silos. If your tank is deeper than the tape, go up a size.
How much is delivery to a farm in the Karoo?
