Description
Overview
This optic socket is the plug-in point for an optical overfill-prevention system on a road tanker. The loading rack connects to it, and it carries the signals from the compartment sensors so that loading stops before a compartment overfills. It is a 6-point, J-type socket, supplied pre-wired in a hard case with stainless steel bolts, and it has three 1/2 inch cable entries. The number of points matters, so count the compartments and sensors on your tanker before you order. Fitting it properly is a job for a competent tanker technician.

Where it works
Fuel distributors loading tankers at depots in Gauteng, KZN and the Western Cape use these sockets, as do transport companies hauling fuel to mines in Mpumalanga and farms in Limpopo. A damaged socket can put a tanker off a loading rack, so it pays to keep a spare for the workshop. For the loading connection itself, see the Barret coupler 18 tooth and the Barret coupler 12 tooth. The rest of the tanker fittings are in our fuel station accessories range.

Questions about this product
What is an optic socket used for on a tanker?
It is the connection point for an optical overfill-prevention system. The loading rack plugs into it and receives the sensor signals from the tanker's compartments, so loading can stop before a compartment overfills. This one has 6 points, so it suits a tanker with that many sensor points.
How many points do I need?
The number of points follows the sensors on your tanker, and it must match what the loading rack expects. This socket has 6 points and is J-type. Check your existing socket or the tanker wiring before ordering, and send us a photo on WhatsApp if you want us to confirm it.
What does delivery cost to a depot in Durban?
