Overview

The 4SD2/9 kit on 72 V DC pairs a 4-inch stainless steel submersible pump and a 0.75 kW brushless DC motor with a matching low-voltage DC controller, reaching 88 m head at up to 4.75 m³/h.

It is a full DC solar kit, so no mains electricity or generator is needed. The controller runs the motor straight from the panels with soft start and protection against under-voltage, over-voltage, overloading and dry running, with automatic recovery. It fits 4-inch (100 mm) and larger boreholes, wells and reservoirs, and gives more flow than a 3-inch kit. Water should be non-corrosive with sand below 1 percent by volume, up to 40 °C.

This kit is designed for a 1650 W solar array, three standard 550 W panels wired together, at 72 V DC. That is larger than the motor rating on purpose, to cover cloudy days, cable and controller losses and imperfect sun angles. The count is based on 550 W panels, so other wattages change the number. Tell us your site and we will confirm the setup.

Is this the right 4SD kit for my borehole?

The 4SD2/9 kit is rated for water levels up to about 66 m at roughly 4.75 m³/h. Measure the depth to the water, not the total borehole depth. If your water is deeper or you need a different flow, the 4SD range runs up to 240 m head, so ask us to match the right configuration before you order.

Do I need mains power or a generator for this kit?

No. It is a full DC solar kit, so no mains electricity or generator is required.
