Overview

This 0.37 kW peripheral pump kit is the entry-level pressure pump in our range, with 34 L/min and up to 36 m head and a switch that starts it when you open a tap.

A peripheral impeller gives good pressure from a small motor, so a 0.37 kW unit can still feed a garden tap or a washing machine. It has a limited flow and does not suit large irrigation. Larger models are listed in water pumps and booster pumps.

Where it works

It suits small gardens in Gauteng, cottage and chalet water supply on the KZN coast, and pressure boosting for a single bathroom in a farm outbuilding. For more flow choose 0.55 kW peripheral pump kit; for the pump without a switch see 0.37 kW peripheral pump, pump only.

Installation notes: mount the pump on rubber feet near the water source, with a short airtight suction line and a foot valve and strainer if it lifts water. This model gives 34 L/min (2 m³/h) at 36 m of head, with a maximum working pressure of 8 bar, so do not leave it running against a closed outlet. Run the pump at least once a week, keep sand out of the water, and let a qualified electrician make the electrical connection.

Questions about this product

Is 34 L/min enough for a house?

For one bathroom or a garden tap, yes. For a whole house with several taps open, move to a 0.55 kW or 0.75 kW pump. Tell us the number of outlets and we will size it. At 34 L/min it also suits a washing machine or a single outdoor tap.

Why run it once a week?

Peripheral impellers can stick if left idle. A short run each week keeps the impeller free. If it will sit for months, drain and flush it first. Skipping the weekly run is the most common reason a peripheral pump will not start after a long idle spell.

Can it pump hot water?

No. It is for clean water up to 40 °C and for liquids that are not chemically aggressive to the pump materials. Keep abrasives like sand out. Warm water also shortens seal life, so keep the pump cool and out of the sun.
