Description
Overview
This stock brick mould is a hand-operated steel mould with three stock-size cavities. Fill it with a damp cement and sand mix, press it down, lift the mould and three bricks stay on the slab to cure.
It is the simplest way to make your own stock bricks: no motor, no fuel and nothing to break. For a bigger step in output, the manual 6-drop stock brick machine doubles the bricks per drop and adds a lever for firmer pressing.
Key features
- Three stock brick cavities
- Hand pressed with no motor
- Steel construction that rinses clean
- Carried and stored easily
- Very little to maintain
Where it works
A stock brick mould like this works for a backyard room in Soweto, a rural home build in Limpopo, or farm labourers making bricks for staff housing during the quiet season. All you need is a flat surface, water, cement and sand. If you also want bigger bricks, the hand-pressed maxi brick mould sits at a similar price, and the full range of brick making machines covers every scale.
Good results from a hand mould come down to three habits. Measure the cement by the bucket every batch so the units match, keep the mix damp rather than wet so nothing slumps when you lift, and wipe the cavities clean every few presses. Cure the units in shade under plastic for about a week. Those habits matter more than the steel itself.

Questions about this product
Is this a good way to start a brick business?
It is the cheapest way to learn mixing, curing and selling before you spend on a machine. Output is limited by hand work, so most people move to a lever machine or vibrated mould once they have regular buyers. Many keep the hand mould for small special orders.
Why do my bricks crack when I lift the mould?
Usually the mix is too dry or the mould was not cleaned. Add a little water until the mix holds together when squeezed, oil or wet the mould between presses, and lift straight up in one smooth movement. Scrape off any build-up in the corners every few drops.
How much does delivery to Kimberley cost?
The mould ships at 10 kg, which puts it in the up to 30 kg band at R550 to Kimberley or anywhere else in South Africa. Our own trucks run from Polokwane and normally arrive in 1 to 3 days. Orders of R20,000 or more including VAT are delivered free.
