Description
Overview
This concrete pillar mould is a 2 m fibreglass form for casting precast pillars, the uprights that hold precast wall panels or fence sections. You pour a wet mix with reinforcing, vibrate it, let it cure and strip the pillar out with a smooth finish.
Fibreglass is light, does not rust and gives a neat face, so the mould keeps producing good pillars as long as you clean it and use release oil. At about 15 kg one person can handle it. Pillar section and the number of pieces per set are not listed yet, so ask us for the profile before you order. Use it with the steel precast walling mould to cast matching panels.
Key features
- 2 m pillar length for standard precast walls
- Fibreglass construction that does not rust
- Smooth inner face for a clean finish with little patching
- Light enough for one person to lift and strip
- Reusable for many casts with release oil and cleaning
Where it works
Precast walling is everywhere in South Africa, from township boundary walls in Gauteng to farm and game-lodge fencing in Limpopo. A small precast business can cast pillars on a level slab at home and sell complete walls to homeowners, schools and municipalities. Settle the wet concrete on a vibrating table to drive out air pockets so the pillars come out dense and strong. See our full range of precast moulds.

Questions about this product
How many pillars can I cast per day with one mould?
One mould gives one pillar per cure cycle. Most yards strip the next day, so one mould makes about one pillar a day. Producers buy several moulds and cast a row each afternoon. Add a release agent before every pour and the fibreglass will last for many casts.
Do I need a vibrating table for pillars?
It is strongly recommended. Vibration settles the wet concrete around the reinforcing and pushes out trapped air, so you get fewer holes and a stronger pillar. A table also speeds up filling. Some yards use a poker vibrator instead, but a table gives a more even finish.
How much is delivery for this mould to Durban?
The mould ships at about 17 kg, so it falls in the up to 30 kg band at R550 to Durban or anywhere else in the country. Our own trucks run from Polokwane and normally arrive in 1 to 3 days. Orders of R20,000 or more including VAT ship free.
What mix should I use for precast pillars?
Use a fairly wet, workable mix with fine stone so it flows into the corners, plus steel reinforcing bar along the length. Vibrate it well and keep it damp while it cures. Ask us for a starting mix ratio for your sand and stone.
