Overview

The 22 kW (30 HP) variable speed drive is made for big three-phase pump motors on a 380 V supply, and it is rated at 46 A. It changes the motor speed by altering the frequency, so the pump follows the flow and pressure the application needs at each moment. That is the main job of a pump VSD: matching the duty instead of fighting it with valves.

The gains are real at this size. Soft starting spares couplings, bearings and pipework from the shock of a direct start, and running slower at part load saves a lot of kilowatt-hours over a year. This drive is for 380 V motors. Pump sets on 525 V need the 22 kW 525 V variable speed drive, and a motor one size down fits the 18.5 kW 380 V drive.
