Description
Overview
This 220v diesel pump is a cast-iron rotary-vane transfer pump that delivers between 20 and 60 L/min from a tank or IBC on single-phase mains power. It is the bare pump with 1 inch BSP ports, ready for you to plumb into a fixed fuel point or a bowser of your own design.
Running off mains means no flat batteries and a steady flow all day, which is why most workshop and depot fuel points use an AC pump rather than a 12V one. At 0.6 kW it draws less power than a kettle, so an ordinary plug circuit or a mid-sized generator can carry it. The cast-iron body also shrugs off the knocks a pump takes in a busy yard.
Key features
- Single-phase 220V motor rated at 0.60 kW
- Delivery from 20 up to 60 L/min, depending on hose and lift
- Up to 3 bar pressure for longer hose runs
- Cast-iron pump body with 1 inch BSP connections
- Rotary-vane design that draws fuel up from the tank
Where it works
Transport depots in Gauteng, municipal workshops and mines in the Mpumalanga coalfields fit a 220v diesel pump to an overhead or ground tank to fuel trucks and plant from a fixed point. Farms with Eskom power at the shed use it to fill tractors faster than a 12V pump can. Add a 30 m roll of 20 mm diesel hose for long reach, and mount the hose on a small galvanised hose reel to keep it off the ground. See all diesel pumps and accessories.

Questions about this product
Can I run this pump on a generator during load-shedding?
Yes. The motor is rated at 0.6 kW on single-phase 220V, so a decent 2.5 kVA or larger generator will start and run it comfortably. Electric motors pull extra current at start-up, so avoid tiny inverter generators. Keep the generator well away from the fuel point while you pump.
Will this pump handle petrol?
No. It is built for diesel and paraffin only. The motor is not rated for petrol vapour and the seals are not made for it, so using it on petrol is a fire risk. For petrol you need a pump that is specifically certified for flammable fuels.
How much is delivery to Durban?
The pump ships at 9.7 kg, which falls in the up to 30 kg band at R550 to Durban or anywhere else in South Africa. Our own trucks leave Polokwane and usually arrive in 1 to 3 days. Orders that total R20,000 or more including VAT are delivered free.
