Overview

The M-50 digital (BT-M50E) is a digital bulk flowmeter that pairs the 2″ positive displacement M-50 body with an electronic register powered from 220V AC. The measuring element is the same as the mechanical version, reading 38 to 550 L/min, but the volume appears on an electronic display instead of number wheels.

It is rated to 10.5 bar and runs off a mains supply that tolerates ±20% voltage swings. That makes it a fixed-installation meter for depots, fuel bays and loading points rather than tankers on the road.

The unit is about 720 mm long and 35 kg, so plan a solid mounting point and pipe supports either side. Run the power cable through proper conduit away from hot pipework, keep a strainer and air eliminator upstream, and calibrate the meter on site once it is filled and running.

A digital bulk flowmeter belongs where there is reliable power and a need for a clean electronic reading: platinum mine fuel bays around Rustenburg, municipal fleet depots, and bulk fuel points at agricultural co-ops. Questions about this product

What happens to the digital register during load-shedding?

The electronic register needs 220V to work, so a power cut mid-delivery is a problem. Run the meter supply through a UPS or your site inverter, which only needs to carry a small electronic load. If your site has no reliable power at all, the mechanical M-50 is the better choice.

Can I mount the M-50 digital on a road tanker?

It is not the best fit. The register runs on 220V AC, which a truck does not supply without an inverter, and the unit is large at about 720 mm long. For tankers, use the mechanical M-50 with a ticket printer. Keep the digital model for fixed depots and fuel bays with mains power.

Do you deliver to Rustenburg, and what does it cost?
