Overview

This 0.6 kW polypropylene self-priming pump moves up to 40 L/min (2.4 m3/h) of clean water against a head of up to 36 m, and it can pull water from as deep as 7 m below the pump. The body is polypropylene with a Noryl impeller, a stainless steel 304 motor shaft and a ceramic-graphite mechanical seal. The 230 V single-phase motor has a capacitor, thermal overload protection, Class B insulation and IP44 protection, so keep it under a vented cover away from rain.

Where it works

It is a sensible pump for garden irrigation, topping up a header tank, and moving clean water from a storage tank or shallow source to the taps on a smallholding. On Limpopo farms and Western Cape lifestyle plots, a pump this size runs sprinklers and a few outlets at a time. Do not use it for abrasive or dirty water. How high can the 0.6 kW pump lift water?

It can draw water from up to 7 m below the pump (suction lift), and it delivers up to 36 m of head at low flow. Real height is less once you count pipe friction and the flow you want, so choose it for the flow you need at your total head.

Is this pump safe to leave outside in the rain?

No. The motor is IP44, which protects against splashes, but the pump should be installed under a vented cover and kept away from rain and water spray. A simple pump cover or small pump room does the job. Keep the area ventilated so the motor stays cool.
