Description

Overview

The OGM-25 pulse output flowmeter is a 1″ oval-gear meter fitted with a reed or Hall-effect pulser instead of a local display. As the gears turn it sends pulses to a fuel management terminal, PLC or remote counter, which then records the litres. Choose it when the reading must end up in a system, such as tag-based fuel control or an automated batching panel.

It forms part of our fuel dispensing equipment range. Pair it with the OGM-25 electronic flowmeter or the OGM-25 mechanical flowmeter for a complete setup.

Where it works

Transport fleets in Gauteng and on the N4 fit a pulse output flowmeter to fuel management systems so each driver tag is logged against litres. Mines in Limpopo and the North West feed it into SCADA on their diesel bays, and agri co-ops use it on bulk oil dispensing panels.

Fitting tip: fit a strainer and air eliminator before the meter, follow the flow arrow, and run screened signal cable back to the terminal or PLC, kept well away from pump motors and power cables. Confirm the pulses-per-litre setting with a measured test volume during commissioning, so the litres in your reports match what really left the tank.

Oval-gear meters measure by displacement: every turn of the gears passes a fixed volume, so the reading holds steady whether the fluid is thin diesel or heavier oil, and the flow pattern in the pipe matters far less than it does with a turbine meter.

Questions about this product

Does it show litres on the meter?

No. This version has a pulser instead of a display, so the litres show up on whatever it is wired to: a fuel management terminal, PLC or remote counter. If you want a screen on the meter itself, choose the OGM-25 electronic or mechanical model instead.

Will it work with my fuel management system?

Most systems accept a reed or Hall pulse input, so it usually connects without trouble. You will need the pulses-per-litre figure for setup, which we confirm with your order. Send us the make and model of your terminal and we will check compatibility before dispatch.

Can it measure petrol?

No. It is meant for diesel, paraffin and light oils only. Petrol needs equipment rated for low flash-point fuels, including the pulser wiring. Ask us for a petrol-rated option if your system runs both fuels. Running the wrong fuel through it can damage the seals and is a real fire hazard on site.
