Overview

This micro flowmeter measures flows from 30 up to 3000 litres per hour and shows the total on an LCD, with G3/4″ male threads at each end. What sets it apart is the wide range and the choice of power: run it off its battery, or wire it to a 5-24V DC supply when it lives on a control panel. It is the meter we reach for when a line runs slow most of the day but sometimes opens up.

It forms part of our fuel dispensing and metering equipment range. Pair it with the 0.2-10 L/min micro flowmeter or the digital metering nozzle with auto stop for a complete setup.

Where it works

Water treatment works for municipalities in Gauteng and KZN use a 3/4 inch micro flowmeter on chemical dosing lines, where the flow is small and the cost of overdosing is high. On farms it tracks diesel to boilers, dryers and generators. Workshops fit it to measure oil or coolant top-ups, and fleet depots use it to check small additive pumps against the delivery note.

Fitting tip from the workshop: put a fine strainer ahead of the 3/4 inch micro flowmeter, because small rotors jam on rust flakes and tank sludge long before a big meter would notice. Mount it with the arrow pointing in the direction of flow, keep it out of direct sun where you can, and run a measured 10 litres through it once installed to confirm the reading before you rely on the totals.

Questions about this product

Can I wire it into my 12V or 24V system?

Yes. Besides its own battery, the meter accepts a 5-24V DC supply, so you can feed it from a 12V bakkie or 24V truck circuit, or from a panel power supply. That is handy when the meter lives permanently on a skid or dosing panel and you do not want to change batteries. Fit an inline fuse on the feed.

What is the lowest flow it will read?

It starts reading from about 30 litres per hour, which is half a litre a minute. That makes it a good fit for dosing pumps, burners and small generators. Below that, look at our 2-90 L/h pulse sensor, which is built for very slow flows and gives a signal to a controller instead of a local display.

How much pressure can it take?

The rated working pressure is 0 to 10 bar. That covers gravity feeds, small electric transfer pumps and most dosing pumps. If you are on the outlet of a high-pressure pump, fit a regulator or choose a heavier oval-gear meter. Send us your pump details and we will check the match before you order.
