Overview

The NIST Motorscope is a motor protection controller for pumps up to 2.2 kW. It works by measuring the power the motor uses, at the input to the motor. A working system draws power within a safe range, and power outside that range points to a faulty motor or system. The Motorscope keeps the motor running while the limits are respected and stops it when they are exceeded. Kamano supplies it from Polokwane to all nine provinces.

Where it works

Power-based protection suits submersible and surface pumps where the cause of a trip matters: a dry borehole, a blocked line, a worn bearing or a failing motor each change the load. That makes it useful on farm boreholes in Limpopo and the Northern Cape, municipal pump stations and small mine water duties, where technicians want a record of why a pump stopped.
