Overview

The DYB-100 24V is a rotary-vane pump for moving diesel at 90 to 100 litres a minute from a 24V electrical system. Heavy trucks, loaders and generators sets with 24V batteries can power it directly, which makes it the natural fit for fuel trucks and mining plant. A 24v diesel transfer pump at this flow turns a long refuel into a short one.

Where it works

Coal mines in Mpumalanga and the platinum belt around Rustenburg run 24V diesel pumps on service trucks, filling haul trucks and dozers at the pit. Road and civil contractors in Limpopo and KZN use the same arrangement on lube and fuel vehicles. Plant hire yards fit them to site bowsers so a machine can be refuelled wherever it stops. It is for diesel and paraffin only.

Questions about this product

Can I power this from a 12V bakkie battery?

No. This version is built for 24V systems and will not perform on 12V. For a bakkie, choose the 12V DYB-100 instead. Trucks and heavy plant with two 12V batteries in series are normally 24V and suit this pump, but check the vehicle wiring first.

How fast does it refuel a haul truck?

The rated flow is 90 to 100 litres a minute, so 500 litres goes in within about five or six minutes under good conditions. A short suction line, a clean inlet filter and a wide delivery hose help you stay close to rated flow.

Does it pump petrol?

No, it is for diesel and paraffin only and is not rated for petrol. Petrol needs an explosion-proof pump. Look at the EX series in our fuel transfer category if you need to move petrol safely.

How much is delivery to a mine outside Rustenburg?

The pump ships at 15 kg, so delivery is R550 for orders up to 30 kg. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) are free. We deliver from Polokwane with our own trucks to all nine provinces in 1 to 3 days, including mine sites around Rustenburg.
