Its sealed motor and anti-static construction are what separate it from a standard transfer pump, so it can work where fuel vapour is present. Will this pump handle petrol safely?

Yes. It has an explosion-proof motor and an anti-static build, and the supplier lists petrol, diesel, paraffin and solvents as suitable fluids. It is still your responsibility to earth the system, avoid sparks and follow site fuel-handling rules. Ask us if your site has specific requirements.

Can I run it off a bakkie battery?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC at 250 W, which is a modest load, so a vehicle battery with the engine running is fine. Use clean clamps and adequate cable, and keep the battery away from any fuel vapour while you work.

How long can I run it at a time?

The duty cycle is 30 minutes. Run it for up to half an hour, then let the motor cool before starting again. At 50 litres a minute that covers around 1500 litres per run, which is plenty for most refuelling jobs.
