Description
Overview
The EX-60 is a 220V explosion-proof vane pump that moves petrol, diesel, paraffin and solvents at 57 L/min. It is built for places where a normal motor is a risk, such as a workshop fuel store or a depot pump bay. The 1/3 HP motor draws from ordinary mains, so no generator or inverter is needed on site.
If you need a bigger flow, look at the ExBlue 12V explosion-proof pump. Browse the full range of fuel transfer pumps to compare.
Key features
- Explosion-proof motor with an anti-static build
- Bypass valve and inlet strainer fitted
- Cast iron body that handles daily site abuse
- 25 mm inlet and outlet for standard fuel hose
- Lifts fuel up to about 6 m (20 ft) from the tank
- Rated for 30 minute duty periods, so let it rest between long transfers
Where it works
Forecourts and fuel depots in Gauteng and KZN use pumps like this for offloading and tank-to-tank transfers. Farms in Limpopo and the Free State run them from a mains-fed fuel shed, and mines and workshops use them wherever petrol vapour hangs around. Fit it with a hose, nozzle and meter to build a complete dispensing point. A proper explosion proof fuel pump 220v unit saves you from rigging a risky substitute.
What’s in the box
- EX-60 220V explosion-proof pump
- Inlet strainer and bypass valve (fitted)

Questions about this product
Can this pump handle petrol?
Yes. It has an explosion-proof motor and is listed for petrol, diesel, paraffin and solvents. Use fuel-rated hose and earth the nozzle and tank as you normally would. It is not meant for continuous running, so work in 30 minute periods and let the motor cool between long transfers.
Does it run off a generator during load-shedding?
It runs on 220V AC at about 0.25 kW, so a small generator or an inverter of reasonable size will power it. Allow extra capacity for the motor start-up surge. For a site with no mains at all, a 12V pump off a bakkie battery is the easier option.
How much is delivery to a farm near Louis Trichardt?
This pump ships at 13.2 kg, so it sits in the up to 30 kg band and delivery costs R550. Orders of R20,000 or more (VAT incl.) go free. We deliver with our own trucks from Polokwane and usually arrive within 1 to 3 days anywhere in South Africa.
