Overview

The single union ball valve gives you quick on/off control on an HD polyethylene line and lets you remove the valve without cutting the pipe. A compression connection grips the pipe and a union nut on the other side releases the valve body, so servicing is easy.

It is made from polypropylene, rated to PN16 (16 bar), and the manufacturer states the range is made to ISO 14236 and SANS 14236. No heat, soldering or welding is needed to fit it.

Where it works

Fit one at a tank outlet, on a pump suction or discharge line, ahead of a filter or at the start of each irrigation block. On a Limpopo or Free State farm, it lets you shut off a paddock without touching the main. The union also helps where equipment needs future servicing, because you can disconnect it without disturbing the rest of the pipework. For a take-off to a threaded outlet see the male tee, and for small threaded shut-off the 15 mm compact ball valve. The wider range is under pipe fittings.
