Overview

This compression reducing coupler connects two HD polyethylene pipes of different diameters end to end. You step down from, say, 50 mm to 32 mm, in a single fitting that you fit by hand. It suits new installations, extensions and repairs where the pipe size changes mid-run.

A rubber O-ring inside each end creates the seal, so no heat, soldering or special joining gear is needed. The body is polypropylene, the rating is PN16 (16 bar) and the manufacturer states it is made to ISO 14236 and SANS 14236.

Where it works

It turns up wherever a main tapers down: water supply to a farm homestead, pump discharge lines, tank installations and irrigation blocks in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga lowveld. To fit it, cut both pipes square and deburr them, loosen the nuts, push each pipe fully into the correct end and tighten. Always match the right pipe to each end, and do not overtighten the nuts.
