Description
Overview
A Y-strainer is an inline filter that catches grit, rust flakes and weld scale before they reach a pump or flowmeter. This brass y strainer 1 inch in size has a BSP thread, an 800 micron screen and a 16 bar rating.
Fit it on the suction side of your transfer pump, ahead of the meter, and the screen takes the abuse instead of your vanes. The cap unscrews so you can pull the screen and rinse it without breaking the line. It belongs in the line ahead of the pumps and meters, and our fuel station accessories range has the fittings to go with it. It pairs with a calibrator when you are setting up a dispensing line. For a complete set-up, add a 65mm camlock part A.

Where it works
Farm diesel tanks in the Free State and North West collect sediment from years of storage, and a strainer on the suction line saves the pump. Contractors running bakkie-mounted tanks in Gauteng use it to protect small vane pumps from dirty top-ups. Mine workshops in Mpumalanga fit them ahead of metering sets, and fleet depots in KZN put one in every dispensing line. Check the screen after every few fills when the tank is old, and rinse it in clean diesel when it shows grit.
