Overview

This 110 mm slotted waste pipe is a 6 m black length with slots along it, used in soakaway systems to drip waste water into the surrounding soil. It is laid in a bed of stone in a French drain or soakaway, and takes the outflow from a septic tank or a grey water line.

The slots let the liquid seep out evenly over the length of the pipe, so the soil absorbs it over a wide area rather than at one spot. Model code Drain 0012. It is a 110 mm pipe, so it connects to the same sockets and bends as our solid 110 mm waste pipe.

Where it works

Use it downstream of a septic tank, where treated liquid needs to soak away, or on a grey water system from a laundry or kitchen on a farm in Limpopo, a lodge in KwaZulu-Natal or a school in the Free State. A soakaway needs well-draining soil, so test the ground before you dig, and keep the field away from vehicles and boreholes.

Run solid 110 mm PVC waste pipe from the tank to the field, then the slotted pipe through it. Seal the tank entry with a rubber seal. The septic tank and drainage range has the tanks, fittings and starter tablets to go with it.
