Description

Overview

The 10SP160/2 is a 10-inch stainless steel multistage submersible borehole pump (26 kW class). It lifts water up to 68 m at shut-off and still delivers 49 m of head at 2,000 L/min (120 m³/h). Peak flow is 216 m³/h, so it belongs on high-yield boreholes.

It is part of the 10SP160 range, a family with a nominal flow of around 160 m³/h, and it runs on three-phase power at 380 V or 525 V. See Options for the set and pump-end choices.

To size it, add your pumping water level, the lift to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction, then check the pump’s head at your flow beats that total. Get the yield-test result first, or the pump may run the borehole dry.

525 V set, R 51,808: 10SP160/2 pump end with a 22 kW 525 V three-phase water-filled 6-inch motor, no starter panel or VSD.
Pump end only, R 10,784: the 10SP160/2 wet end alone, to replace a worn pump end on an existing 26 kW 6-inch motor.

Oil-filled motors are sealed and rated 25 bar. Water-filled motors are rated 35 bar and can usually be rewound, which makes repairs cheaper on bigger sizes.

Where it works

Mine dewatering around the Mpumalanga coalfields and the Rustenburg platinum belt, where head matters more than anything else. At 68 m shut-off head this is a low-head, high-volume pump, best where the water level is shallow and the volume is big.

What borehole size does the 10SP160/2 need?

It is a 10-inch pump, so the borehole needs an internal diameter of at least 250 mm. Check the casing size and the yield-test result with your driller before ordering. If you are unsure, send us your borehole depth, water level and yield and we will confirm the model.

What else do I need besides the pump?

You need submersible cable, rope, delivery pipe and a base plate, none of which are included. Motors above 30 kW also need a soft starter, star-delta panel or VSD sized by your electrician. Ask us for a quote on the complete installation kit so the parts match.

Do you deliver the 10SP160/2 to Klerksdorp and Durban?

What is the difference between the 380 V and 525 V sets?

Both sets use a water-filled three-phase motor on the same pump end. The 380 V set suits standard supplies. The 525 V set suits sites with a 525 V supply, usually mines and large schemes. Neither includes a starter or VSD, so have your electrician size one.
