Description

Overview

The 10SP160/1 is a 10-inch stainless steel multistage submersible borehole pump (15 kW class). It lifts water up to 34 m at shut-off and still delivers 25 m of head at 2,000 L/min (120 m³/h). Peak flow is 216 m³/h, so it belongs on high-yield boreholes.

It is part of the 10SP160 range, a family with a nominal flow of around 160 m³/h, and it runs on three-phase power at 380 V or 525 V. See Options for the set and pump-end choices.

To size it, add your pumping water level, the lift to your tank and about 10% for pipe friction, then check the pump’s head at your flow beats that total. Get the yield-test result first, or the pump may run the borehole dry.

525 V set, R 49,936: 10SP160/1 pump end with a 22 kW 525 V three-phase water-filled 6-inch motor, no starter panel or VSD.
Pump end only, R 8,904: the 10SP160/1 wet end alone, to replace a worn pump end on an existing 15 kW 6-inch motor.

Oil-filled motors are sealed and rated 25 bar. Water-filled motors are rated 35 bar and can usually be rewound, which makes repairs cheaper on bigger sizes.

Municipal bulk water supply in Gauteng, North West and KZN, where a single borehole must fill a reservoir. At 34 m shut-off head this is a low-head, high-volume pump, best where the water level is shallow and the volume is big.

What borehole size does the 10SP160/1 need?

It is a 10-inch pump, so the borehole needs an internal diameter of at least 250 mm. Check the casing size and the yield-test result with your driller before ordering. If you are unsure, send us your borehole depth, water level and yield and we will confirm the model.

What else do I need besides the pump?

You need submersible cable, rope, delivery pipe and a base plate, none of which are included. Motors above 30 kW also need a soft starter, star-delta panel or VSD sized by your electrician. Ask us for a quote on the complete installation kit so the parts match.

Do you deliver the 10SP160/1 to Mahikeng and Johannesburg?

What is the difference between the 380 V and 525 V sets?

Both sets use a water-filled three-phase motor on the same pump end. The 380 V set suits standard supplies. The 525 V set suits sites with a 525 V supply, usually mines and large schemes. Neither includes a starter or VSD, so have your electrician size one.
