Description

Overview

The Y1 for smaller motors is a digital protection controller for three-phase borehole pumps of 0.37 to 4 kW on a 380 to 415 V supply, and it cuts the pump when the borehole runs dry, a phase drops out or the motor overloads. A burnt motor on a remote borehole means a call-out and days without water, and this unit is the cheap insurance against it. It is one of the controllers in our pump controllers and VSD accessories.

This version covers motors from 0.37 kW up to 4 kW. Pumps above 4 kW need the 1.1 to 7.5 kW version.

Where it works

Three-phase borehole pumps run farm irrigation in the Free State and Limpopo, mine dewatering and municipal supply schemes, where a motor lost to a dry borehole or a dropped phase is costly. Choosing the right controller matters: the MA analogue control box and the 20Y intelligent controller are for 220 V single-phase pumps of 0.37 to 2.2 kW, the Y1 covers 380 V three-phase pumps, the 30Y suits larger three-phase pumps of 5.5 to 15 kW such as 6″ borehole pumps, and a VSD soft-starts the motor and adjusts speed to demand. Always match the controller to the motor power and supply voltage. See the Y1 controller for 1.1 to 7.5 kW for the other power range, or the 60 L vertical steel pressure tank for the storage side of the system.
