This screen filter lid stops debris before it reaches your rainwater tank. Unless the rainwater enters through pipes connected directly to the top or side of the tank, all the water should pass through a tank screen at the entry point, and this lid is that screen. Where it works

Roof water carries leaves, bird droppings, grit and insects, and a screen at the inlet keeps most of it out. Rainwater harvesting is growing across South Africa, from Western Cape homes that collect winter rain to farms in Limpopo and KZN that catch every storm. Schools and clinics fit screens on harvesting tanks as well. The screen needs a quick rinse now and then, because a clogged screen can back water up in the gutter.
