Description

Overview

The Trio Motorscope is a motor load protector for pump installations up to 5.6 kW. It watches the power the motor draws and keeps the pump running only while that power stays within a safe range. Consumption outside the range points to a faulty motor or system, such as a pump running dry or a blocked line.

You set the range yourself. With the jumper in place, press the calibration button while the motor runs under normal working conditions and the Motorscope records the safe limits for that system. It also checks continuously that the power supply is correct and stable. An RS232 output connects to the Optimizer or a PC for finer settings, an installation aid and more detailed fault indication. The Optimizer holds the data of the last 43 motor stops, which can be moved to a PC.

Where it works

What does the Motorscope protect against?

It stops the motor when the load leaves the safe range you calibrated, which typically happens when a pump runs dry, a line blocks or the motor develops a fault. It also monitors the supply, so an unstable power source will stop the motor.

How do I set it up?

Run the pump under normal working conditions with the jumper in place, then press the calibration button. The Motorscope stores the safe load range for that system. The Optimizer or a PC, connected through the RS232 output, can refine settings later.
